Detroit, Michigan, 2198. Technology has taken off, immersing people in it through virtual reality, cutting off their connections to others with AI and empathetic robots. All the old vices are committed in all the newest ways, and while society declines, the President has his eyes on ultimate power through the virtual reality and brainwashing. Some, naturally, oppose.
The major players are President Thomas Wallace and the rebel leader Rivak Minuit, but they have their minions, including a prominent scientist Virginia Nobel, and Rivak's officer Quintus Broderick.
There does not appear to be any outside forces manipulating things. In fact, there is a distinct lack of outside forces, and paired with the instability of this time it can be difficult to be sure of what is real. Not to mention that virtual reality thing....
